My Trip to Durdle Door!

I've been wanting to travel down to Durdle Door for a few years now, I had no idea how close it was to home! But when I saw people going to visit, I knew it couldn't be far. So I thought I'd go take a look and see what I could capture.

My first "visit" to Durdle Door didn't go so well, you can read about my experience here.

My Second visit was a great success, you can watch a small video from my experience below.

It is such a beautiful location, there are so many locations and perspectives to create some beautiful images but it's all about timing. I think to create the images I have in my mind I would need to come back at Sunrise, Sunset and during stormy weather, I would also bring my telephoto lens and invest in some Neutral Density filters to elongate my shutter speed and slow it right down.

I am happy with the pictures I've captured but I definitely feel they could be improved if the beach was empty, I feel the lack of people in a landscape brings more beauty to a picture.

Here is one of my favourite images from my trip, I love the composition, and it's a good start towards the finishing point, now I know what I have to do next time!

Over the weekend

Over the weekend I had the pleasure of meeting up with Gavin and Adriana, to catch up with them and see how they were doing, it also gave me the opportunity present them with their Wedding DVDs and a small photo-slideshow presenting a few of my favourite images from their day.

I'm happy to report that they loved the images I showed them and are interested in meeting up again soon!
Later on after our meeting I met up with a friend from college, Magda, who I hadn't seen in almost 5 years! It was really nice meeting up with her and catching up with each other over the changes we've encountered over the last 5 years, we talked about university, life after university and of course, our college lecturers (only good things I promise!)

Magda has just finished a make up artist course and is looking to move into the field, so hopefully we will be working together in the future and I'll be able to recommend her to any future brides I photograph so she can apply their make up!

Gavin and Adriana's Beautiful Wedding Day

Back in the middle of June, a few days before their wedding, I met with Gavin and Adriana for the first time at their house, it was a lovely first meeting and I had the pleasure of meeting Adriana's parents too.

You can read my previous blogpost from our meeting Here.

On the morning of the 20th of June, I woke up early and looked out of the window, to my surprise and joy it was slightly overcast! This meant it would be really good weather for shooting outside!

As I arrived at the hotel to photograph Adriana getting ready, I felt relaxed and confident. As I entered the suite, I was greeted by Adriana, her bridesmaid, her mum and her make up artist. Adriana had just finished getting her make up done so I quickly set up and started snapping away.

Luckily we were able to venture out onto the balcony and capture some beautiful pictures with the green surroundings in the background.

Adriana's mother joined us on the Balcony for some pictures too!

Once we got some of the initial pictures out of the way and Adriana had seen them she was ready to pop the cork on her champagne bottle, I think this was a family tradition, enjoying champagne and strawberries.

After sipping some champagne I stole Adriana away for a few pictures on her own.
